No greater Gift

A fabulous client of mine had some family come to town for a few days for Christmas, and asked if I had an opening for a Maternity session. Multi Family Session

This family was on vacation, from 1000 miles away, visiting Disney! I was hired to shoot their Family photos, and just gave general clothing instructions. And boy did they do an AMAZING job outfitting everyone in such great colors! And none of us knew it until we arrived for the shoot, but they totally matched the decor colors of the Resort we ended up shooting in. How perfect was this? :)

Princess Fiona

I had the wonderful opportunity yesterday, to hook up with another photographer and shoot a few babies together for HOURS. We got to share props, be each others assistant, and just generally work together for the greater good of building our portfolios. Fiona is the sweet princess we got to photograph the most and I am SO proud of everything we were able to accomplish in one day.

I have known this Momma since she was a little girl, over 15 years ago we first met! She is now happily married and they have the most beautiful little girl, Emma. God has truly blessed them! And just when I was in a short-lived blah mood with my photography, God brings them into my studio today. We had a great time, and this family made my 'work' feel a LOT like play. Sweet Baby Luna

This sweet little girl gave me something I hadn't had the pleasure to photograph yet...I wide AWAKE little sweetheart! Never once did she close her eyes longer than the occasional blink, she hated to be naked and refused to be swaddled tight. CD Release Concert

I love when I get to totally step out of my comfort zone and face a challenge, that turns out decent! We met Kyle Thomas 6 years ago, in a pretty funny way. The first day of first grade, Juliet {our now 12 year old daughter} met a friend that would soon become like family to us. She and Abby have been BFF's ever since that day, 6 years ago. Abby would later come to Juliet's birthday party, being dropped off by her Mom. A few hours later, she was picked up by her Mom AND Dad. When he walked in, he and my husband locked eyes and both said "Hey, I KNOW YOU!" They were both singers in some of the same circles in Central Florida.

So the time has finally come for Kyle to produce his first Worship CD, and we got to be there for the release concert. Kyle, we are SO proud of you and honored to call you a Friend.

Luke turns ONE!

Luke is a baby like none other for me. His Momma was my very first Maternity client. Then I got the wonderful privilege of photographing her labor, and then I shot Luke's newborn photos, and then again at 3 weeks. The very first photo I put on this Blog was of a baby laying on a piano bench, with the sheet music to He's Got The Whole World In His Hands spread out on the piano. Luke was that baby!
And now he's a year old. ~sniff~ I love this little man!!

Four Generations

This had to be the quickest and easiest photo shoot I have ever done. This little guy was SO good, sat perfectly still and did whatever I told him to do. He even thought I was funny, so there you go. :) Ryan's Momma, Carol, and I have been friends since we were kids, and I used to hang out at her house with her awesome Mom. Amanda is biologically my niece, but I helped raise her as a baby/toddler and got custody of her when she was 14. SO , I call her my daughter, and my kids call her their sister-cousin. :) Amanda got married and just gave birth this morning to her second daughter. I was asked by an old classmate {FORMER, not OLD!} to do a family photo shoot, to include her Grandpa, while I'm in Ohio on vacation. Returning to your childhood home can have some serious mixed emotions. For me, it's a good thing. :) I have brought the kids back to Ohio for a month, to re-connect with their cousins, and wait for our niece to give birth in the next few weeks. We went down to the old creek where I grew up to do some fishing. That lasted about 3 minutes, and the kids just jumped in and swam for the next hour. Then my nephew had a baseball game last night. A Labor and Delivery

I did not obtain permission from the boyfriend's parents or any of her friends to post their photos, so the one of her putting on his boutonniere has him blurred. :) But the smile on her face was priceless, so I wanted to include it here. :) Also included is another one of her little sisters, dancing in her princess dress.

Kailyn and her mom asked me to do her Senior pictures on a Friday, and the next day they drove all the way from Jacksonville for this shoot. I had a blast with K and her family! A Wedding in January

I had another fabulous opportunity to second-shoot a wedding with local photographer, Omar. Clearly an advantage to living in Florida, would be to shoot an outdoor wedding on such such a gorgeous day in JANUARY!
After the bride and groom did their kissing, they were handed each a white dove. They then released them and their doves were joined with a few dozen MORE doves that were dyed the colors of the wedding. They then flew above the guests and circled for quite a while. It was an amazing sight and a beautiful beginning to a new life. Enjoy a glimpse into their ceremony...

I am back up and shooting!

We came back from our Holiday trip, and I got the flu. I was out of commission for 6 days, but I'm back up and shooting!
Last Friday night was when I fell ill, but earlier that day I had the honor of photographing 3 families {11 people} together. This is that shoot...the Grandparents, their children and spouses, and then the 5 grandchildren. This was done completely outside {with some very challenging light conditions}, in a most beautiful prayer garden here in town. Enjoy!

Tomorrow I am assisting Omar again and second-shooting a wedding!!

A Hindu Wedding

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I answered a Craigslist AD looking for a photography assistant for an upcoming wedding. I shot off an email and about 10 minutes later, the photographer called me. Omar is fabulous! He's not afraid to teach a newbie like me and even let me borrow some of his equipment, as I am sadly under-equipped for a wedding situation.

Anyway, he gave me the job and the wedding was last night. The colors were amazing and the Priest took the time to explain most of the rituals before they took place {which was incredible to me}. Other than that....let's just say, it was not what I expected. I did a lot of reading up to prepare myself for the rituals and procedures of Hindu weddings. THIS was nothing like what I read. First off, the temple is under going renovations. Dirty concrete floors, large trash barrels sitting around, ALL metal folding chairs, yellow CAUTION tape blocking some door ways, think 'big warehouse'. You get the idea.

And then the whole 3 HOUR ceremony was held under an indoor canopy. Draped in curtains, you could hardly even get a picture of the bride or groom under that tent with all the drapes, the big banana TREE and bamboo plant right smack in front of the bride and groom. And not to mention that everyone and their brother wandering around the whole time, walking right up into the altar to take their own pictures and VIDEO! It was very difficult for this novice to even get a good shot. So with a few well-placed vignettes and watermarks, here are a few pictures I did manage to salvage. Pay no attention to the folding chairs and what not. :)

I do want to add that over all this was a GREAT experience for me. The people were super nice and the ceremony was beautiful. And Omar taught me a lot of things you can only learn from getting out there and DOING it.

Isn't this little cutie and her Momma just totally SWEET?!! This was my first toddler shoot, and I was pretty worn out after this was over. But we did have a lot of fun and it was great working with such cute models. :)

Hello blog world! I have been asked several times over the past month if I have a web site or blog for people to keep up with and check out my photography. So here I am.

I am new to photography and am still a beginner, but I AM having a blast and found some creative passion for a craft I never explored before. Please, come with me on this journey and help me grow. I will be posting photos that I have taken {hopefully some each week} and am always open to constructive criticism.

Here, I'll post one now to get us started. :) This is baby Luke at 2 weeks old.
